This is a comprehensive course that delves into the multidimensional aspect of safety and security in a ministry setting. In this course, we explore the various mindsets that exist when it comes to safety and security in ministry and address common objections and misconceptions that ministries may have regarding the need for safety and security measures. 

One of the key focuses of the course is the importance of having an Action Team - a trained and vigilant team of individuals who are proactive in preventing incidents and responding effectively when they occur. Additionally, the course highlights the importance of constantly rehearsing response strategies and thinking outside the box.  

Participants are encouraged to be vigilant and focused, as their action or lack of action can have long-lasting effects on many people. Vigilance is emphasized as a key factor in preventing incidents from becoming distractions for the ministry. 

By the end of the Philosophy of Ministry Safety course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the multidimensional nature of safety and security in ministry settings. They will be equipped with practical strategies to create a safe and worry-free worship environment, protect members and guests, minimize liability, and safeguard the testimony of the ministry.

This course is designed to equip the participant with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their important role as a member of the Action Team. From cultivating the proper mindset to understanding the core principles that guide an Action Team, this course covers it all. 

Participants will learn about the profile of an Action Team member, which includes dedication, knowledge, training, and resources needed to be effective and organized. They will see the value in participating in regularly scheduled scenario training, and learn how to operate according to standard operating procedures specific to the ministry. They will also understand the importance of professionalism, discretion, and trustworthiness in handling confidential information. 

With a focus on teamwork, management, problem-solving, and exercising good judgment in high-stress environments, this course will prepare participants to be a reliable and valuable member of their Action Team.  

Medical Emergencies can happen at any time, and it's crucial to be prepared to respond effectively. In this course, participants will learn how to quickly respond to anyone in need of medical attention. They will be trained on the protocols and procedures for handling medical emergencies in a responsible and efficient manner. 

The course will cover various aspects of medical emergency response, including awareness, considerations, and response. Participants will learn how to identify potential medical issues among the congregation, understand when to call 9-1-1, locate and use AEDs and first aid kits, coordinate with medical professionals, provide crowd control, ensure patient privacy, and deal with infants and children in medical emergencies. 

Additionally, the course emphasizes the significance of proper training and certification and the importance of completing and incident report and conducting after-action reviews to continuously improve the response process. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently respond to medical emergencies, potentially saving lives and protecting your ministry from costly settlements and negative publicity.

This course is designed to prepare ministry leaders and Action Team members to effectively handle disruptive incidents such as protests, demonstrations, domestic violence situations, and fights that may occur during public services or events. Participants will learn how to recognize signs of potential disruptions, develop protocols for handling such incidents, and respond in a calm, assertive, and professional manner. 

 The course covers topics such as understanding the different types of disruptions that can occur, dealing with protestors or demonstrators inside or outside of the building, maintaining a positive image of the church during disruptions, understanding the use of force policy, and handling domestic violence situations with care and sensitivity. Participants will also learn how to de-escalate situations, redirect individuals to less public areas, and work as a team to ensure the safety and well-being of the congregation. 

 In addition, the course emphasizes the importance of maintaining professionalism, avoiding emotional involvement, and following established protocols in handling disruptive incidents. Participants will also learn about resources available for domestic violence victims and the potential risks of domestic violence incidents leading to church shootings. The course provides practical training and guidance for ministry leaders and their Action Team members to effectively handle acts of violence and maintain a safe environment for their congregation.

In this course, we will examine the liability issues that can arise in a ministry setting and how the Action Team can play a vital role in mitigating these risks. Participants will learn to constantly look for potential problem areas, avoid complacency, and take responsibility for addressing any issues they encounter. 

The course covers five key areas of liability: lawsuits, slips and falls, misappropriation of funds, release of personal information, and child abuse/sexual misconduct. Participants will learn about the common reasons churches are sued and the importance of consistent policies, oversight, and planning to avoid leaving the ministry vulnerable to lawsuits.  

This course will equip the participants with the knowledge and skills to proactively mitigate liability risks and protect the ministry from potential lawsuits, financial losses, and reputational damage.

Acts of Nature focuses on preparing participants to effectively respond to emergency situations caused by natural disasters such as fires, severe weather, and other disasters. The course covers evacuation and shelter procedures in detail, providing practical guidance for ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in a church or similar facility. 

The course begins with a comprehensive overview of fire evacuation procedures, emphasizing the importance of immediate action and clear communication in case of a fire. Participants will learn how to initiate evacuation, establish a perimeter, and prevent re-entry into the building, while accounting for all individuals and coordinating with emergency responders. 

The course then moves on to severe weather, disaster, and natural disaster situations, covering topics such as designated shelter areas, pre-planned signals for evacuation, and monitoring weather alerts. Participants will also learn how to maintain calm and orderly evacuation procedures. 

Additionally, the course includes training on sheltering in place and highlights the importance of regular training and preparation for evacuation and shelter scenarios. Participants will gain practical skills to effectively respond to various emergencies caused by acts of nature. 

Creating a safe environment for children is paramount in any ministry. In this course, we will provide guidelines and protocols for maintaining a safe environment and responding to a missing child incident. 

Participants will learn about the importance of the "two-adult rule" when working with minors and the responsibility of constant supervision. The course will cover the "Missing Child" protocol, including how to initiate it, assign roles, and communicate effectively with law enforcement. Participants will learn about organizing search efforts, utilizing available resources, and maintaining communication. 

Active Shooter incidents have become a tragic reality in today's world, and houses of worship are not immune to this threat. This course emphasizes the importance of being prepared for such an event and provides practical strategies for response. 

Through a combination of theory and practical training, this course equips Action Teams with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively respond to an active shooter incident. Participants will learn about the nature of active shooters and how to identify potential threats within the congregation. 

The course emphasizes the importance of early detection and prevention, and provides guidance on how to establish a clear and unified response plan. Practical techniques for managing the situation, providing aid to victims, and coordinating efforts with other team members will also be covered. 

The goal of this course is to empower ministry leaders and Action Teams to be proactive and prepared in the face of an active shooter incident. By understanding the threat, identifying potential risks, and developing effective response strategies, participants will be equipped to take decisive action and potentially save lives in a high-stress situation. 

Mental Health and De-escalation focuses on equipping participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively respond to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in a compassionate and safe manner. The course emphasizes the importance of prioritizing safety, using de-escalation techniques, approaching individuals with empathy and compassion, assessing and referring individuals to appropriate resources, and maintaining privacy and confidentiality. 

Through this course, participants will learn to recognize signs of a mental health crisis, approach individuals in crisis with calmness and respect, and utilize de-escalation techniques to defuse potentially volatile situations. The course also covers the importance of active listening, validation, and offering support without judgment or criticism. 

By providing a supportive and compassionate approach, participants will be empowered to effectively handle mental health crises within their church community while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
